You rock!
– a title you can’t use with paper, and definitely not with scissors –

We live in the most connected era, yet true connections still hold immense value. When you want to perform and prove your worth to new audiences, you need courage—and sometimes, a little luck, as organizers often decide the lineup. Open mics and poetry slams have expanded these opportunities, and SLAM IN is here to take things even further.
When you create an event on the platform, you can choose from a wide variety of categories, helping people instantly understand the type of show you’re hosting. Each category is color-coded, so as you get familiar with the system, you’ll quickly focus on events that interest you most (plus, the site becomes a lot more colorful!).
GIGS! GIGS! GIGS!
The dream that inspired SLAM IN was to create a tool that would help artists find gigs around the world and seamlessly plan tours, both domestically and internationally. Imagine organizing a world tour with just a few clicks!
When the platform is thriving and full of events, this dream will be possible for everyone. And it doesn’t stop there.
As we mentioned, creating an event on SLAM IN allows organizers to open opportunities for poets, MCs, photographers, musicians, visual artists, and more. These job listings appear in a dedicated Gigs section. For new performers or the ones with a tour planned but with a day off to fill, this section becomes the perfect resource to find new opportunities in cities they’ll visit.
Currently, information like this is scattered across countless platforms, and missing out on one could mean losing a golden opportunity to shine. That’s the power of a single, unified space where all poetry-related events are gathered.
Like a rock star
This idea isn’t entirely new—many musicians have dreamed of a single platform where they could find venues for gigs. While several attempts exist, none are yet fully international or established. With time, as SLAM IN grows, it could even be adapted and/or cloned to support musicians and other performing arts.
With SLAM IN, being your own agent becomes simpler than ever. All you need is time and excellent poetry, so that when you perform at a venue, audiences will be excited to see you again on your return.
Sharing your SLAM IN profile will be easy, enabling people to follow you and discover when and where you’re performing next. Step by step, you’ll build a fanbase across your region—or even the globe.
The “1000 true fans” theory is real, and SLAM IN aims to make it accessible for everyone.
To split or not to split?
This led us to an important question: should we separate creators from venues? Should venue owners have dedicated accounts with specialized tools to make them easily recognizable?
The answer isn’t clear-cut, and we’re still evaluating options to find the best solution. To foster inclusivity and simplicity, we’ve decided—for now—not to separate creators from venues.
We’ve even consulted another developer to tackle this specific issue. Eventually, these improvements will help streamline processes like ticket sales, creating guest lists, issuing backstage passes, and managing monthly calendars that can be shared with audiences.
Currently, there’s no distinction between a creator managing events across multiple venues and someone hosting events in just one space. Groups help bridge this gap, providing features like broadcast messages to connect people. However, we’re open to suggestions—if the community asks for a more distinct separation, we’ll explore ways to meet that need.
Like Fringe (the festival, not the series)
Have you heard of Fringe?
It’s an enormous festival held every August in Edinburgh, Scotland. The entire city becomes a stage, with performances taking place in theaters, pubs, on the streets, and in any available place. Organizing such a massive event is, as you might imagine, a logistical nightmare.
SLAM IN’s ultimate goal is to develop an event system robust enough to manage such complexity—including ticketing!
We want organizers to dream big. Imagine hosting a Fringe-style festival in your own hometown (and yes, many cities worldwide already have their own versions of Fringe).
With SLAM IN, you can:
- Attract participants eager to apply for shows.
- Build and share a beautiful, user-friendly calendar.
- Establish a hub to gather your audience and keep them informed.
- (Coming soon) Manage ticketing with ease.
Whether you want to showcase your poetry to the world or find venues where poetry thrives, SLAM IN will be your go-to platform. It’s where you can request to perform at existing events or organize your own show.
With SLAM IN, your rockstar dreams are closer than ever.stones we experience, always with a fair and welcoming attitude.
